How did we decide which symbols to use?

We thought of the most common symbols, like Santa Claus, the Christmas Tree, and Stars, and wrote them on a list. We challenged a group of children to think of all the things that make them think of Christmas, and used some of those symbols as well. We were surprised by some of the items the children came up with, such as Cookies, Tinsel, and Camels, and didn't use them all, such as Bad Teeth and Pigs, of course. We took the most common from both the lists, and combined them into a 24 day unit study. There were many more symbols, than days, however, and I realize that the popularity of a symbol will vary by region, so I have added a few more at the end that can be substituted for any day you like.
